Sunshine and Batteries

DSC_0104.NEFFor those of us living on solar power, the hours of sunshine in a day matter a great deal. The amount of power we have to run things like lights, internet, or TV depends on how much power our batteries get from our solar panels, and that depends on how much sun the panels get. The last week has been more than a little cloudy, rainy, and icy – everything that is detrimental to getting a good charge on the battery bank. So when the sun came out today, and I mean really came out, the batteries showed a good full charge for the first time in a week, and tonight is a time for celebration. I’m going to watch a movie and enjoy all of those modern amenities that require electricity and know that when I wake up in the morning, I’ll still have power for the blow dryer. Life is good.
